Mohsen Gholami started working on the sculpture of the pumpkins in 2014, while his hippo projects had not yet reached their main results. A social formalist project like pumpkins compensates for this feeling in him and makes him able to experience the form at the same time.
His pumpkins sculptures follow a personal concern. This is impossible to show many subjects due to the restrictions that existed in Iran, he was looking for a solution to show an ideal form that looks like the female body.
On the other hand, showing the form of a smaller pumpkin inside the belly of the big pumpkins was an extraordinary situation that showed the figure and body of a plant.
It can be a representation of a human scene in a plant body but he is trying to reach an ideal and attractive form, and he hopes to achieve a beautiful and formalistic display without exaggeration and at the same time keeping his forms simple with the meaning of life and the birth.
